makers at the club to express his interest in the post. It’s believed much of Pressley’s profile fits the kind now being sought by the club and that the 2006 Scottish Cup-winning captain’s approach was warmly welcomed. Pressley cut his teeth in management with Falkirk in 2010 before moving on to Coventry City and Fleetwood. Since resigning from that post a year ago, he has spent much of his time travelling to Spain to study different coaching methods. Hearts are keen for all the candidates to go through a rigorous and transparent selection process. The board met yesterday to draft a shortlist after having dispensed with Cathro earlier in the week. Falkirk manager Peter Houston, ex-Dundee boss Paul Hartley and Partick Thistle manager Alan Archibald are among the names in contention. Hartley threw his hat in the ring last night, saying: ‘If Hearts were willing to speak to me, of course I would (be interested) because of the affinity I have with the club.’ Ex-Hearts boss Paulo Sergio has expressed an interest and Cambridge United manager Shaun Derry has also been linked. Jon Daly will face the media today ahead of taking the team to Celtic Park on Saturday.
