ONE of the highlights of De Niro Day on Sky Select. The actor won his first Oscar for his searing portrayal of the young Vito Corleone, rising to power in New York City.

SCI-FI SERIES Warehouse 13, 8pm, Pick

A LIGHTER take on The X Files, this U.S. series pairs two chalk ’n’ cheese Secret Service agents (she looks, he leaps) who work for a mysterious branch of the government that hunts down strange objects. Look out for Brit Jaime Murray in this season two opener, playing a female version of H.G. Wells.

FANTASY EPIC Outlander, 9pm, More4

FRANK spirals out of control in the Forties while his wife, having resigned herself to her fate, is having a merry old time in the 1740s with Jamie, the hunky and adorably naive Highlander she has married. As Frank’s mood darkens, he starts to look increasing­ly like his ancestor, ‘Black Jack’. Where will it end?

FUNNY MEN John Bishop: In Conversati­on With James Corden, 9pm, Dave

JOHN BISHOP’S low-key talk show, which has only one guest per episode, makes its Freeview debut. James Corden is his first guest and reflects engagingly on family and on his late-night chat success in the U.S. — his hit series The Late Late Show is available on Sky On Demand and Now TV.

THRILLER FINALE Riviera, 9pm, Sky Atlantic

SKY’S big Euro-thriller has the feel of an expensive daytime TV movie and would be nothing without its star, Julia Stiles. In the finale, Georgina (Stiles, pictured) is holed up with her gun, drinking heavily and contemplat­ing a bold plan — and there’s a satisfacti­on to be had from the brutal results.

HAUNTED TOWN Ghost Of Shepherdst­own, 10pm, Quest Red

IN SHEPHERDST­OWN, West Virginia, Chief of Police Mike King says his men are drowning in reports of paranormal events, so he has called in the specialist­s (Nick Groff, Bill Hartley and Elizabeth Saint, pictured with King). RENEE RUSSO and Mel Gibson are the horrified parents whose son is kidnapped for a $2 million ransom. Wealthy Gibson can afford to pay up, but he takes matters into his own hands when promises aren’t kept. A solid nail-biter from director Ron Howard.
