Family tiff girl, 13, took her own life
A 13-YEAR-OLD girl hanged herself after a minor argument with her mother during the school half-term.
Chloe Morris – described as a ‘brilliant role model’ by teachers – had been sent to her bedroom following the disagreement, an inquest heard.
The row broke out after her brother messed up the arts and crafts she was working on and Chloe was then told to go upstairs by her mother, Alison Alford.
Her stepfather Anthony Morris checked on her later and performed CPR on Chloe until paramedics arrived. However, they were unable to save the teenager.
A report by medical expert Dr Saras Hosdurga said Chloe had not shown any signs of mental health problems before the tragedy in Bristol on May 30.
Detective Sergeant Matthew Brain told the hearing the teenager’s motivation was ‘unclear’.
Chloe was an ‘excellent student’ at her school, Bridge Learning Campus in Hartcliffe, Bristol. Paying tribute in a newsletter, headteacher Keziah Featherstone said the ‘brilliant role model’ was ‘always with her friends, happy and laughing’.
At the inquest this week, Maria Voisin, senior coroner for Avon, recorded a narrative conclusion.
She said: ‘Chloe died as a consequence of her own actions but her intentions are unknown.’
