Bags of pain as climber conquers final Munro
A CLIMBER who finally bagged the last of 282 Munros was forced to delay his celebrations when he fell head over heels and broke a leg on the way down.
The man, from Paisley, Renfrewshire, who is in his 40s, was found screaming in pain by other walkers after he had conquered his last two mountains over 3,000ft – Sgurr a’ Ghreadaidh and neighbouring Sgurr a’ Mhadaidh on the Cuillins in Skye.
Eight members of Skye Mountain Rescue Team went to his aid at Glenbrittle on Saturday.

‘He was as high as a kite’
Munro and he couldn’t remember exactly what happened but it seems he tripped and went flying forward and heard this crack. He broke his leg just above the ankle and was in a lot of pain. He felt a right idiot after bagging his last Munro and being so close to the road.
‘He was found screaming his head off and we were called.
‘He was as high as kite on celebrating his feat of bagging all the Munros but in agony at the same time – as well as rather embarrassed.’
The man was taken by stretcher to an ambulance and then to the Dr MacKinnon Memorial Hospital at Broadford on the island. It is believed he was transferred to Glasgow for treatment.
