Police hunt for woman accused of Clinton con
A SCOT accused of conning a film company out of £120,000 with the promise of exclusive access to Hillary Clinton during her presidential campaign is being hunted by police.
An arrest warrant was issued for Ann Leuser, 55, after she failed to appear at Inner London Crown Court yesterday.
The court was told she became ill on a sleeper train from Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, and was taken to hospital – but police said she was lying.
Leuser allegedly tried to get an all-expenses-paid trip to New York to help film-makers interview Mrs Clinton in April 2015. She is said to have taken four payments of £30,000 from a production company on the proviso they would get access to the ex-Secretary of State.
She is also accused of conspiring to commit fraud by negotiating and signing a contract with film and TV producer Alison Birley.
Judge Wood, QC, issued a bench warrant for Leuser, saying: ‘The defendant has given a false explanation. Her absence is in breach of bail.’
