Supermodel Cara’s terror as shamed Hollywood mogul tried to kiss her

- Daily Mail Reporter

CARA Delevingne last night claimed she was a victim of Harvey Weinstein, describing how she felt ‘powerless and scared’ when the disgraced movie mogul tried to kiss her.

The model-turned-actress said Weinstein had met her in a hotel lobby and asked her to go up to his room, where another woman was waiting for them.

Weinstein told the two women to kiss, which Delevingne said she got out of by suddenly breaking into song. When she announced she had to leave, Weinstein tried to kiss her on the lips.

Delevingne, 25, said she still got the part in the film, and has felt guilty about it ever since.

The actress has filmed two movies for the Weinstein Company, including her breakout role in 2015’s Paper Towns and the recently released Tulip Fever.

She also said Weinstein had asked her about her relationships with women she had been seen with in public – and told her that she would not get any parts as a straight woman if she came out as gay.

Miss Delevingne shared her account on her Instagram page alongside two images with quotes. One said: ‘The devil whispered in my ear, “You’re not strong enough to withstand the storm.” Today I whispered in the devil’s ear, “I am the storm”.’ The other quote was: ‘Don’t be ashamed of your story. It will inspire others.’

Miss Delevingne said: ‘When I first started to work as an actress, I was working on a film and I received a call from Harvey Weinstein asking if I had slept with any of the women I was seen out with in the media.

‘It was a very odd and uncomfortable call... I answered none of his questions and hurried off the phone but before I hung up, he said to me that if I was gay or decided to be with a woman, especially in public, that I’d never get the role of a straight woman or make it as an actress in Hollywood.’

The actress described how, a ‘year or two later’, she met Weinstein in a hotel to discuss an upcoming film.

She said: ‘As soon as we were alone he began to brag about all the actresses he had slept with and how he had made their careers and spoke about other inappropriate things of a sexual nature. He then invited me to his room. I felt very powerless and scared but didn’t want to act that way, hoping that I was wrong about the situation.

‘When I arrived I was relieved to find another woman in his room and thought immediately I was safe. He asked us to kiss and she began some sort of advances upon his direction.’ Delevingne said she did the first thing that came to mind. ‘I swiftly got up and asked him if he knew that I could sing. And I began to sing... after singing I said again that I had to leave.’

She said Weinstein blocked the door and tried to kiss her, adding: ‘He walked me to the door and stood in front of it and tried to kiss me on the lips. I stopped him and managed to get out of the room. I still got the part for the film and always thought that he gave it to me because of what happened.

‘Since then I felt awful that I did the movie. I felt like I didn’t deserve the part. I was so hesitant about speaking out... I didn’t want to hurt his family. I felt guilty, as if I did something wrong.’
