ROISIN CONATY (pictured) plays a boozy, out-of-work actress who thinks of no one but herself. She’s dimly aware of that failing, though, which gives the viewer a sliver of sympathy in this six-part series. Being Human’s Damien Molony co-stars as a driving instructor who is drawn to her.

SCI-FI LAUGHS Red Dwarf, 9pm, Dave

THE ‘boys from the Dwarf’ (none of whom are under 50, but they wear it well) are back for a new series that opens with a classic Red Dwarf plot — the crew arrive on a seemingly abandoned space station where strange events then occur. The strangest thing here being Lister jamming with Adolf Hitler on the guitar.

TRUE CRIME Murder Maps, 9pm, Yesterday

THE return of this atmospheri­c series that uses place as a starting point to investigat­e murders from the past. To begin, the wonderfull­y theatrical Nicholas Day introduces the case of a torso found at Brighton train station in the summer of 1934.

FANTASY FUN Zapped, 9.40pm, Dave

THE inventive British comedy following an office temp into a topsy-turvy fantasy world returns for a fun new series. Brian (James Buckley, pictured) is no genius, but many of the inhabitant­s of Munty are either stupid, selfish or both — a fact that works against Brian when they try to break him out of prison in this first episode.
