Glum in Liverpool as his kids have a whale of a time in Barbados... Happy birthday, Wayne!

- By Alisha Rouse

LEAPING from a pontoon and splashing in the warm Caribbean sun, the Rooney children are having the best of times. The same can’t be said for their father Wayne, however, who arrived alone for football training on his 32nd birthday looking more than a little glum.

He slumped in the passenger seat as he was driven to Everton’s training ground on the outskirts of Liverpool yesterday, while wife Coleen and sons Kai, seven, Klay, four, and Kit, 22 months, soaked up the sun.

The former England captain was spending his birthday apart from his family as they made the most of the half-term holidays. His nine-year marriage is reportedly on the rocks following a booze-fuelled night out with party girl Laura Simpson.

Pregnant Mrs Rooney, 31, on her seventh holiday in ten months, was once again spotted without her wedding ring at the exclusive resort in Barbados.

In September, Rooney was caught drink-driving in Miss Simpson’s car following a night out. She said he had chatted her up during a ten-hour drinking session and claimed they had kissed and cuddled.

Rooney, who still wears his wedding ring, admitted drink-driving and was sentenced to 100 hours’ unpaid work. He had another reason to look glum yesterday as he talked to Everton’s caretaker boss David Unsworth – his team are in the relegation zone in the Premier League after a disastrous run of form that saw manager Ronald Koeman sacked on Monday.
