Charges of attempted murder after crash on A9

THREE women have appeared in court charged with attempted murder following a two-vehicle crash in the Highlands.

A blue Peugeot 307 and a white Ford Transit van were involved in the collision.

The crash took place on the A9 near the Evanton overpass in Easter Ross at around 1.15pm on Sunday.

Agnes Stewart, 21, of Invergordo­n, Easter Ross;, Mary Stewart, 46, of Conon Bridge, near Dingwall; and Lauren MacArthur, 23, also of Invergordo­n, appeared at Tain Sheriff Court yesterday.

The women have each been accused of assault to injury and to the danger of life and attempted murder.

None of the three made a plea and all were committed for further examinatio­n before being released on bail.

Police Scotland said no one was seriously injured in the crash.

A future court date has yet to be confirmed.
