Superhero kids help Entertainm­ent One

A HEROIC performanc­e from kids’ TV Show PJ Masks has boosted earnings at Peppa Pig-owner Entertainm­ent One in the first half of 2017.

Earnings at the television and film production company jumped by 36pc to £51m in the six months to the end of September, while pre-tax profit soared to £36m, climbing by 53pc on the same period in 2016.

Entertainm­ent One’s family business was the star of the show, with superhero show PJ Masks delivering phenomenal 600pc growth.

It is about a group of children who turn into superheroe­s when they put on their pyjamas. It began airing on Disney in the UK last year.

Sales of toys and merchandis­e associated with Peppa Pig and PJ Masks pushed overall sales for the division 71pc higher to £910m.

The television business, which includes The Walking Dead, also performed well, with revenue up 17pc.
