Superhero kids help Entertainment One
A HEROIC performance from kids’ TV Show PJ Masks has boosted earnings at Peppa Pig-owner Entertainment One in the first half of 2017.
Earnings at the television and film production company jumped by 36pc to £51m in the six months to the end of September, while pre-tax profit soared to £36m, climbing by 53pc on the same period in 2016.
Entertainment One’s family business was the star of the show, with superhero show PJ Masks delivering phenomenal 600pc growth.
It is about a group of children who turn into superheroes when they put on their pyjamas. It began airing on Disney in the UK last year.
Sales of toys and merchandise associated with Peppa Pig and PJ Masks pushed overall sales for the division 71pc higher to £910m.
The television business, which includes The Walking Dead, also performed well, with revenue up 17pc.
