Looking swell in her puffer… Kate and her bump go casual

- By Emily Kent Smith

FOUR months into her latest pregnancy, the Duchess of Cambridge is clearly doing swell.

In fact, her bump is starting to grow so much, she probably had trouble zipping up her natty puffer jacket on a trip to Birmingham yesterday.

Kate and William jetted into the city for a string of engagements, including a trip to Villa Park – home of the Duke’s beloved Aston Villa – to find out more about a coaching initiative.

The Duchess teamed her £315 red jacket by Perfect Moment with black skinny jeans, New Balance trainers and a black polo neck jumper which showed off her bump. Greeting the pair, Keith Wyness, chief executive of Aston Villa, spoke to the Duke and then turned to Kate, joking: ‘Welcome back to the home of one of your husband’s other passions.’

William, who is president of the Football Association, laughed and said: ‘It’ll be interesting to see if she’s been listening to any of my conversations about football.’ Kate replied: ‘I knew I should have.’

The final leg of the day was spent at the Acme Whistle Company, in Birmingham, founded in 1870, which exports to 119 countries around the world.

When given musical whistles for George, four, and Charlotte, two, William joked: ‘Don’t show that to George – we’ll never get any peace.’

Earlier in the day the Duchess proved she would not let pregnancy get in the way of an adventure when she took part in an off-road driving challenge.

Despite warnings that the activity could be ‘unsuitable’ for expectant mums, a gung-ho Kate jumped behind the wheel of a Land Rover Discovery to take on a steep, rocky, slope at the Jaguar Land Rover Discovery Plant in Solihull.
