there are parties and celebrations taking place across the country, with something to suit all tastes – from traditional music to parades, fairs and dances.

In edinburgh, the Scottish Storytelling Centre is hosting two Winter Warmer events on November 28 and 30, featuring songs, music, poems, stories and one of the nation’s favourite dishes – locally

St andrew’s Day obviously holds particular importance in the Fife coastal town which bears his name.

Students from St andrews University are hosting a family market on Madras lawn.

Sample tasty treats from local food vendors, sip mulled wine from the St andrews Wine Company and snap up unique gifts at stalls run by some of the town’s renowned independent retailers. Families can enjoy Christmasthemed, carnival-style booths – and you might even get a chance to see Santa.

also in St andrews, the world’s largest Street Ceilidh is back by popular demand on December 2. Hosted by comedian Susan Morrison and organised in conjunction with the St andrews University Fellowship, this party is filled with fun, dancing, good music and great company, and everyone can take part.

Whether you are young or old, an experienced dancer, a beginner or have never danced before, this is for you!

the ceilidh will run from 6pm-7pm at the West Port end of South Street.

after the dancing, head to the Harbour for a lantern-lit procession led by the City of St andrews Pipe band.

there will also be a re-enactment of the fable of regulus bringing St andrew’s bones to the shores of what would become St andrews.

the celebrations will then end with a bang courtesy of a spectacular fireworks display from the Harbour.

So gather your family and friends and head to Fife for an evening to remember!
