MIRROR, MIRROR, DO I NEED MOISTURISER?

Gadgets that give beauty tips ... and feed the cat

- From Sean Poulter in London and David Gardner in Las Vegas

THIS smart mirror won’t tell you that you’re the fairest of them all, but it might help you get there eventually.

By studying your skin, the HiMirror can tell you how to treat wrinkles and lines, as well as charting how effective different beauty products are.

The handheld screen, which will set you back £220, is one of the gadgets giving a taste of the future at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Nearly 200,000 visitors are expected at the exhibition, which begins today, giving them the chance to check out technology such as the Surefly octocopter.

The eight-propeller drone can carry you and a friend 70 miles, with a top speed of 70mph. The propellers fold down so it fits in the average garage. It goes on sale next year, but you’ll have to start saving now – it has a price tag of £160,000. There’s plenty to revolutionise the home too. For £960 you can control your shower by voice. The U by Moen system also lets you choose the temperature.

If you struggle to get out of bed in the morning, then it could be worth trying the Sensorwake – an alarm clock that wafts scents to wake you. The £87 clock has 15 scents on offer, including coffee, mint and for the economically minded, money.

For those who want their big screens even bigger, Samsung has unveiled a TV that’s 146in – and can be built up with more screens, fitting together like Lego blocks.

Also on show is Buddy the ‘household companion’ – a 22in personal assistant, entertainment system and home security guard.

And pets can go hi-tech too, with the £375 Catspad system. An app can set when food is delivered, while sensors monitor how much your cat eats.
