THEY say the apple never falls far from the tree – and that certainly seem to be the case with Sir Chris Hoy and his young son Callum.

The 41-year-old Olympic legend posted this picture of his threeyear-old wearing the Team GB cycling colours on social media – and he looked every inch the budding champion.

The Edinburgh-born cyclist captioned his Twitter post: ‘The GB team riders seem to be getting younger and younger all the time.

‘I barely recognise some of them these days. #ProudDad.’

The six-time Olympic champion has previously shared videos of his young son, who was born 11 weeks premature in 2014, fearlessly learning to ride his first bike.

Friends and fans took to Twitter to comment on the latest picture.

@PhilOCPhotos wrote: ‘What a smashing lad you two have.’ And @LEGRO added: ‘Chip off the old block.’

Sir Chris recently told how the birth of his new baby daughter Chloe made him realise the toll Callum’s fight for life took on him and his wife Sarra.

The Olympic legend said he felt robbed of bonding with Callum, who arrived weighing only 2lb 2oz and spent his first two months in hospital. Sir Chris added: ‘It was very difficult and it’s only now we realise what we missed out on.’
