Rules that should have stopped 20 years of torment

-

STRICT Prison Service rules are meant to prevent inmates from sending unwanted letters to their victims. Jails hold a list on computer of individuals that each prisoner is not permitted to contact.

Any letter written by an inmate should be checked by a guard to ensure it complies with the rules. Usually, only the name and address on the envelope would be looked at because opening letters to see the contents is now done randomly and based on intelligence.

Convicted prisoners are allowed to send out one free letter every week, the postage being paid for by the prison.

These A5 folded sheets of lined writing paper come complete with an envelope and will be sent out by 2nd class post. Inmates can send out as many other letters as they wish, but this is at their own expense.
