Yawn! Ken’s droning on about EU again
THE veteran Tory bruiser was on his favourite topic – extolling the virtues of the EU.
But as Ken Clarke delivered a long speech attacking the Government, it was too much for one backbencher.
Pro-Brexit Tory Sir Desmond Swayne appeared to fall asleep in the Commons. He was seen slumped against the green benches yesterday as the former chancellor, 77, spoke up for the rights of EU citizens. The MP for New Forest West, 61, appeared to nod off for around a minute before jolting awake with a smile.
The former minister often expresses disapproval or looks bored when sat behind Mr Clarke.
Last night he blamed his snoozing on being tired following an early morning swim in the Serpentine.
