Women can’t be bullied into supporting MeToo
NO! NO! NO! CATHERINE Deneuve has rowed back on that letter to Le Monde last week, which denounced the spread of sexual puritanism in the wake of allegations against harvey Weinstein and others.
It made me so happy that someone like her had come out on the side of reason and attempted to address a complex argument in a grown-up way instead of simply caving in to the virtue-signallers.
But clearly the #MeToo thought police got to her, and now she’s capitulated, apologising if her sentiments offended any woman who has been a ‘victim of hideous acts’.
This is the whole problem with the #MeToo bandwagon: it lumps victims of rape and serious sexual violence together with someone trying it on — and in so doing trivialises real victims. That is why I don’t support it and why no woman should be bullied into doing so, either.
