Day there were 2 foxes at No 10!

- By Jim Norton

AS one Fox had just strolled through the door of No10, another – rather more bushy-tailed – clearly fancied its own brush with fame yesterday.

While Liam, the International Trade Secretary, was in Cabinet, this urban fox was spotted brazenly strolling along Downing Street.

However, it did not take advantage of the door to No 10 being ajar to join Theresa May and her ministers, including Dr Fox – not even to thank her for announcing that she would drop any plans to reintroduce the hunting of its country cousins.

A passer-by said of the fox: ‘He hobbled past once, and then came back the other way. He was limping, his back right leg was injured – he wasn’t a well fox. He had a nice face but he looked quite cute and sad.’

The animals are becoming increasingly confident in UK towns and cities, where their numbers have quadrupled in 20 years. Westminster Council, which includes No 10, classes the urban fox as a nuisance rather than a pest.
