Hotel recovery

-

A MAJOR contributor to the NHS crisis is ‘bed blocking’ by elderly patients who can’t be released from hospital because of a lack of adequate available aftercare.

As there are no longer convalescent homes, why can’t the NHS book rooms in local hotels where discharged patients can be overseen by qualified nurses?

The hotel is already set up to serve food and other needs, and the cost would be relatively low. BRIAN BICKNELL, Bognor regis, W. Sussex.

I HAVE seen an elderly neighbour discharged from hospital and return to the home where she lives alone, only to be re-admitted the next day.

It is this sort of pressure that is being put on A&E.
