How unicorns lifted Dunelm

Forget rocking horses, parents and children are going mad for rocking unicorns. Last year’s unicorn craze was one of the biggest trends of 2017 as they became one of the most popular Christmas presents at homeware retailer Dunelm.

Kellogg’s also saddled up, selling multi-coloured unicorn cereal. Poundland also got on board with pencil cases, notebooks and rubbers emblazoned with the mystical creature.

Demand delivered some magic for Dunelm’s festive sales as it reported a 3.4pc rise in sales over the Christmas period. sales in the 13 weeks to December 30 were driven by strong growth online, up 30.5pc, compared to 1.1pc in stores.
