My menopause nightmare, by Yasmin Le Bon

- Daily Mail Reporter

SHE looks little changed from her supermodel heyday.

But Yasmin Le Bon says the menopause has caused her to develop a ‘layer of padding’ all over her body.

The 53-year-old mother of three opened up about her struggle with the menopause, saying it affected her memory and caused her to ache all over.

Speaking to Red magazine, she said: ‘The menopause is a bit s***, actually. You ache all over, you’re tired and fractious and you develop a layer of padding all over. You can’t remember to make that appointment to see the damn endocrinologist. You can’t remember where you parked the car.

‘It’s important that you tell people this. I share this with my girls because I want them to be a bit more prepared than I was.’

Mrs Le Bon, who was once the highest paid supermodel in the world, has been married to Duran Duran singer Simon Le Bon for 32 years and they have three daughters – Amber, 28, Saffron, 26, and Talullah, 23.

She was discovered at 18 and quickly became one of the most successful catwalk stars of the Eighties.

She still models for M&S, and said she manages to keep her weight down by avoiding wheat and eating fat such as olive oil, coconut oil, butter and avocados.

Speaking about the secret to a successful relationship, she said: ‘Space is the saviour for any relationship. Headspace and physical space.

Asked about how she deals with anger, she said: ‘When you want to explode, take a full breath, and exhale grace and calm. Nothing good ever came from anger. But nothing good ever came from silence, either. In marriage – in any relationship – do not leave things unsaid. Life is too short.’ The full interview appears in the March issue of Red magazine, on sale on Wednesday.
