Murty to hear King’s big ‘vision’

- By JOHN GREECHAN

GRAEME MURTY will have a private audience with Dave King tonight — and hope to learn more about the chairman’s ‘vision’ for Rangers. The South Africa-based businessman has been in Scotland, watching his club beat Aberdeen 2-0 at Ibrox last Wednesday night and then travelling to Dingwall for yesterday’s 2-1 win over Ross County. And Murty, braced for more business before the transfer window closes on Wednesday night, said: ‘He’s going to tell me his vision for the club, how he sees us going forward. And I’m interested to see it. ‘I’m interested to see if we have a timescale, interested to see what — if any — business dealings will be

done. I’m probably even interested in what kit we’re going to be wearing next year. The same things all the fans are interested in. ‘It will be a good opportunity for us, away from the hurly-burly of the game, to actually sit down and really get to know each other.’ Murty’s future remains unclear beyond the end of the current campaign. And the interim head coach insists he will not be asking for guarantees, saying: ‘I’m a part of it until the end of the season. I’m sure if I do a really good job of it, we’ll have another discussion. ‘Until then, I’m relaxed. I’m thrilled to have the prospect of managing this group of players. ‘If I can be a part of it going forward, I would love to. But that’s depending on me doing a really good job. ‘I have to do my business properly to actually make that decision for them. ‘If I do that, fine. If not, the chairman has to safeguard the club and make sure we move forward.’ With a number of clubs showing interest in Rangers players, Murty can’t rule out departures as well as arrivals before Wednesday’s deadline. But he warned: ‘In today’s market, it will take a lot of money to get people out. ‘Until you are prepared to satisfy our chairman, they won’t be going anywhere. Because what we’re trying to do is build something. ‘I know people are looking at our players. It means we’re doing something right at the football club.’ Danny Wilson remains in talks about a switch to MLS side Colorado, Murty offering no update but saying: ‘I’m sure that, when it’s done, it’ll be to the benefit of both parties.’
