Corbynista crowd storms Churchill cafe

- By Christian Gysin

JEREMY Corbyn was last night pressed to denounce one of his supporters who stormed into a Winston Churchill-themed cafe and urged customers to boycott it.

Politics student Halimo Hussein, 24, and nine others went to the Blighty UK cafe in Finsbury Park, North London, on Saturday to protest against what they claimed were the ‘colonial’ themes on display.

The cafe features a life-size Churchill figure, Union Flags, model Spitfires and even an air raid shelter in its garden.

The protesters were filmed reading from prepared scripts as bemused customers looked on.

Miss Hussein, an avid Corbynista who is also a fan of comic Russell Brand, and a regular customer at the cafe, chanted: ‘We have nothing to lose but our chains’, before declaring: ‘Churchill was a racist.’

Ignoring his heroic role in saving the world from Nazi tyranny, Miss Hussein also led a chant of: ‘It is our duty to fight for our freedom’, before adding, ‘To the owner of the cafe, apologise to the local community for their poorly thought and insensitive branding.’

Yesterday, Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson called on Labour leader Mr Corbyn – who has used the cafe – to denounce those involved, tweeting: ‘Disgraceful attack on our finest ever wartime leader by hard-Left mob. @jeremycorbyn should denounce the actions of these “activists” immediately.’

Tory MP Michael Fabricant added: ‘It is thanks to Winston Churchill that fools like these are able to hold their childish views and not be thrown into a concentration camp.’

Cafe owner Chris Evans, 40, reported the protesters to police and said: ‘If you cannot celebrate Britain and great Britons you are just erasing history.’ The Labour Party said it would not comment.
