ABERDEEN are finally set for a move away from Pittodrie after councillors approved plans for a new stadium at Kingsford. But here are five memorable occasions from their spiritual home which will never be forgotten.

European Cup Winners’ Cup quarter-final, 1983 After a goalless first leg, Alex Ferguson’s side went 2-1 behind to the Germans before Alex McLeish and John Hewitt scored within minutes of each other to secure progress to the last four.

Eric Black and Neil Simpson provided a twogoal lead against the Belgians in the opening four minutes, before Mark McGhee — with two — and Peter Weir made sure of a stunning win that guaranteed the Dons what would prove a triumphant final spot
against Real Madrid. Aberdeen 2 Hamburg 0
European Super Cup second leg, 1983 Simpson and McGhee were again on target after a goalless first leg as Fergie’s heroes upset the odds once more.
