Fulham kick out £18m West Ham raid for Scot Cairney
FULHAM have rejected an £18million bid by West Ham for Scotland international Tom Cairney. It’s understood the Championship club are holding out for £35m for the 27-year-old midfielder, with their valuation set to scupper a January move. Cairney, who earned his first senior call-up for the national side against Canada at Easter Road in March, wants to join David Moyes’ side, who have already had a £15m offer turned down. Cairney, who signed a contract extension until 2021 last summer, missed Fulham’s 3-1 victory over Barnsley on Saturday, with manager Slavisa Jovanovic saying he had a knee injury. Meanwhile, West Ham’s Arthur Masuaku was banned for six matches yesterday for spitting at Wigan’s Nick Powell. Moyes said: ‘It was a terrible thing he did.’
