The contestant­s are still a colourful bunch, though, and include a ranch owner from Texas, a male model who says scallops ‘changed my life’ and a mum-of-four (and addiction counsellor) from Chicago.

CAMPAIGNER­S’ STORY Hull’s Headscarf Heroes, 9pm, BBC4

THE ‘headscarf heroes’ are the women who fought the government — and the industry — for better conditions at sea after the sinking of three trawlers in 1968 claimed 58 lives. This inspiratio­nal new documentar­y tells the story of a formidable group led by Lillian Bilocca.
