Last ‘Beatles’ jihadis caught

-

TWO British IS fighters who were part of the brutal group dubbed ‘The Beatles’ have been seized in Syria by Kurdish forces, US officials revealed last night.

Alexanda Kotey and El Shafee Elsheikh, both from west London, were the last members at large of the gang who tortured western hostages at a prison in Raqqa and beheaded more than 27. Their victims called them The Beatles because of their English accents. Ringleader Mohammed Emwazi – known as Jihadi John – was killed in an airstrike in 2015. A fourth man, Aine Davis, is in a Turkish jail on terror charges.

Kotey, 34, of Ghanaian and Greek Cypriot extraction, and Elsheikh, a 29-year-old Sudanese refugee, were detained last month by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces, a Kurdish-led militia.
