Downton Abbey star Elizabeth McGovern, who played the Countess of Grantham, is relieved that her girls with film producer Simon Curtis are not following in her footsteps.

‘They’re interested in other things,’ Elizabeth tells me. ‘Matilda is 24 and she’s a writer, and Grace just turned 20 and is still at university, so we’ll see.

‘I’m relieved that they’re not interested in acting — especially when you consider things like harassment.

‘I’m happy that everyone is talking about that now. But then it’s also a world in which there is no safe profession any more.’
