FIVE-a-side football firm Goals Soccer Centres has appointed Andy Anson as chief executive.

Anson, 53, joins after stints as the boss of football shirt retailer Kitbag, commercial director of Manchester United Football Club and chief executive of England’s failed 2018 World Cup bid.

The firm, which has issued a string of profit warnings, also said Nick Basing would step down as chairman. Basing added: ‘We are confident Andy’s skillset will contribute to our recovery strategy.’
