Falkirk boss wary of Cove star Megginson

-

PAUL HARTLEY believes Cove rangers striker Mitch Megginson is ‘wasted’ in the Highland League and admits Falkirk will risk a Scottish Cup shock unless they can keep his former Aberdeen team-mate quiet. After playing together at Pittodrie, Hartley signed the forward on loan at Alloa and knows just how big a threat the 25-year-old will be in tomorrow’s last-16 tie. The prolific Megginson, who joined Cove in 2016, has hit 37 goals already this season and will be expected to lead Cove’s bid for a historic quarter-final berth. Hartley is convinced the former Dumbarton and raith rovers attacker, who made 34 appearances for the Dons, should still be playing full-time football. The Bairns boss said: ‘Mitch is wasted in the Highland League but it’s a good bit of business for Cove. ‘I’ve seen a lot of footage of him and he’s their main man. He’ll be a threat and we’ve got to take care of him. ‘It’s not just his goals, it’s his overall play, and he’ll be out to prove a point that he can play at this level.’
