HE is the singer who made his name crooning about romance.

But Darius Campbell’s own love story has come to an unhappy end.

The Glasgow-born star, who rose to fame after appearing on reality talent show Pop Idol, has divorced his wife after five years of separation.

In 2011 the Colourblind singer, 37, married Canadian actress and model Natasha Henstridge, who starred in 1995 sci-fi movie Species.

The couple had met on a Los Angeles pedestrian crossing seven years earlier and wed in a fairytale Valentine’s Day ceremony.

But after just two years they started divorce proceedings. The couple briefly reconciled in 2016 but split again last year.

Now it has been reported that their divorce has been settled with a clean financial break. A settlement revealed by website The Blast said the couple, who have no children, parted amicably.

Henstridge, 42, is worth more than £10million after starring in several Species sequels.

The couple have agreed not to pay each other spousal support or alimony.

In November, Henstridge added her voice to the Me Too anti-sexual harassment campaign when she accused film director Brett Ratner of sexual misconduct.

Campbell, who starred opposite Sheridan Smith in the West End production of Funny Girl in 2016, dated model and Strictly Come Dancing Star Daisy Lowe after splitting up with his wife.

Campbell appeared on the ITV talent competition Popstars in 2001, and the following year he made to the finals of Pop Idol. He also starred in Chicago in the West End and appeared on Popstar to Operastar in 2010, which he won.

The singer recently revealed that he had been left in a coma after drinking dirty Thames water while promoting a filter system for charity.

Last year, he said of his split from Henstridge: ‘In the most bittersweet and wonderful way, we’re dear friends.

‘We filed for divorce three years ago. I really meant what I said, when you stand in front of someone and you say I’m going to give you my life, you mean it. And if you don’t, you shouldn’t be in it, so get out.’

He added: ‘We tried to make it work and we’ve separated and we’re divorcing. But in the best way, and we’re still friends.’

Yesterday, Darius was unavailable for comment.
