actress Andrea Riseborough admits to softening her accent so Americans can understand her. ‘It’s not a conscious thing, but if you are talking to people outside Newcastle they don’t understand the colloquialisms,’ The Death Of Stalin star told me at the Emily’s List brunch at the Four Seasons in LA. ‘My accent was quite strong when I was young, and when I go back it is just as strong. My husband always knows when I have been around someone from Newcastle as my accent changes.’
