How drinking tea could cut the risk of crumbly bones
WOMEN who regularly drink tea have a lower risk of osteoporosis.
Researchers at Nanjing University, China, analysed worldwide data on tea and osteoporosis — the condition that causes crumbling bones — and found women who drank the most tea had a 38 per cent lower risk of the disease compared to those who drank the least. The same effects were not seen in men, possibly because they’re more likely to smoke, which has a detrimental effect on bone health.
Research suggests some antioxidants in the dried leaves may help with the formation of new bone.
