WHY I’M WORRIED ABOUT . . .

-

THE MILLENNIALS. It was reported last week that 25- to 34-year-olds were more likely than any other age group to find it difficult to eat healthily because of the cost of food.

But the fact is that whole grains, veg and other basics can be obtained cheaply — click on Mail Online and you’ll find plenty of stories about families who produce amazing meals at very little cost.

I suspect the real problem is something I’ve returned to many times: the failure to teach children how to cook from scratch.

Even when it’s offered, fewer school pupils are taking food technology (or domestic science as it used to be called). I do fear for the impact on their health.
