Hugh’s a dad again! (So that’s 5 babies by two mothers...)
MOST people approaching their sixties will probably be looking forward to putting parenthood behind them, maybe even enjoying becoming grandparents.
But not Hugh Grant – who has had his fifth child at the age of 57.
The star’s girlfriend Anna Eberstein gave birth to their third child last week.
And it wasn’t the actor himself who made the good news public, but his ex-girlfriend Liz Hurley.
The actress, who dated the Four Weddings star for 13 years, revealed the latest addition to his brood on television.
And she said that Grant – who also has two children with receptionist Tinglan Hong – had been ‘transformed’ since becoming a father.
Asked whether she was surprised by the number of children he’d had, she said: ‘He had another one last week.
‘He has five. He was over 50 when he spawned them all.’
Appearing on US show Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the 52-year-old added: ‘He’s an enchanting dad. Really, really sweet. Having these kids has transformed him from a very miserable person into a fairly miserable person,’ she said.
‘It’s improved him. He’s gone up the scale.’
The gender of the baby has not been confirmed.
However, in January Miss Eberstein’s mother Susanne hinted that it would be a girl, saying: ‘She’s due rather soon.’ Grant, who has never married, has Tabitha, six, and five-year-old Felix from his relationship with Chinese restaurant receptionist Miss Hong.
In 2011, it was revealed Grant had bought her a £1.2million home just over a mile from his home in west London.
He and Swedish TV producer Miss Eberstein, 39, already have two children together.
The oldest, five-year-old John, was born just three months before Felix. The other is a girl aged two.
Earlier this year he described fatherhood as ‘the nicest thing’ ever to happen to him.
He said: ‘It’s just lovely to have all that love around. Suddenly you love someone more than yourself. It’s unheard of in my case and they love you and it’s all enchanting.’
Miss Hurley is godmother to his eldest daughter Tabitha while the actor is godfather to Miss Hurley’s son Damian, 15.
Representatives for Grant and Miss Hurley have been approached for comment.
