Laszlo fumes as Queens turn the tables on United

- By EUAN McARTHUR

CSABA LASZLO hit out at his Dundee United flops after they were jeered off the pitch at Tannadice. Joseph Thomson was the two-goal hero for Queens as they boosted their play-off hopes with victory. But United’s dismal season went from bad to worse, with even second place behind champions-elect St Mirren now looking increasingly unlikely on this evidence. They fell behind to Thomson’s 21stminute opener while Kyle Jacobs piled on the misery with a penalty four minutes before the interval. Mark Durnan reduced the deficit with a close-range finish after 57 minutes before Scott McDonald made it 2-2 with a stunning 68th minute free-kick. But on-loan Celtic starlet Thomson scored his second 15 minutes from time to leave United with only one win in their last seven league matches. ‘I don’t want to explain because everyone saw what was on the pitch,’ said United boss Laszlo. ‘I’m both really angry and disappointed because we dominated. ‘But we lose three goals, so you must be more clever. It’s painful and it’s the angriest I’ve been since becoming manager. ‘I am suffering and sometimes players have to take responsibility.’ Queens took the lead when Lyndon Dykes’ cross found Thomson who side-footed past keeper Deniz Mehmet from eight yards. Things got worse for United when Durnan was short with a pass-back and pulled back Dykes in desperation. It was a clear spot-kick and Jacobs smashed the ball high into the net. Durnan then bundled home from pointblank range after a rebound came back off the post. United levelled when Shaun Rooney fouled Billy King and McDonald curled a free-kick past Jack Leighfield. Thomson pounced on a loose ball to thunder a 25-yard winner past Mehmet. Queens boss Gary Naysmith said: ‘It’s a brilliant result. I felt we really deserved it.’
