Child molester extradited to US over ten charges

- By Sam Walker

A PAEDOPHILE who was locked up in Scotland for attacking a boy has been extradited to the US to face a string of sexual offence charges against other children.

Jordan Kemlo, 21, was sentenced to four years in custody in 2015 after preying on the youngster.

At the time Kemlo, then 18, told police he ‘never thought of the consequences’ during his campaign of sexual abuse against the boy, in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, between 2011 and 2014.

But just three years later it has been revealed that Kemlo has been flown to Tucson, Arizona, after agreeing to be extradited by Scottish authorities.

He is now being held at Pima County Jail, awaiting trial over ten charges relating to the abuse of several children – including sexual conduct with a child under 15, two counts of child molestation and solicitation to commit sexual conduct with a minor.

The alleged offences took place in 2014 when Kemlo briefly lived in the region, according to a Pima County spokesman.

He was placed on a $500,000 bail bond after arriving at the jail on February 22.

A spokesman for Pima County Sheriff’s Department said: ‘The charges date back to 2014 and involve the molestation of several victims.’

It could be several weeks before a judge hears the case at Pima County Superior Court, according to US officials.

In 2015, the High Court in Glasgow heard how Kemlo’s young victim described him as ‘the bad boy’.

Kemlo was arrested after abusing the boy both at his own home and at his victim’s house, according to The Press and Journal.

It is unclear whether Kemlo was released from prison before surrendering himself to authorities over the US charges, or whether he agreed to the order while in custody.

He made the official plea at

‘Didn’t think of consequences’

Edinburgh Sheriff Court and the extradition, which had been requested by US marshals, was agreed by the Scottish Government.

A Scottish Government spokesman said: ‘The US sought Mr Kemlo’s extradition and, following careful consideration, ministers agreed his extradition on January 31.’

He added: ‘Where a territory other than a member state of the EU seeks the extradition of an individual in Scotland, and the sheriff finds there are no bars to extradition, the Extradition Act 2003 places on ministers the duty of considering the extradition order.’
