I can’t afford lawyer says Scot ‘who had sex with boy of 14’

‘£2,000-a-night call girl’ tells US court she’s broke

A SCOTTISH woman arrested after allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old boy in a Florida hotel for cash has claimed she is too poor to pay for a lawyer.

Sarah Louise McGill – who boasts online about her lavish jetset lifestyle – was arrested at the Marriott Hotel in Orlando on Saturday after the boy’s father complained to police.

McGill, who has bragged on her escort website about taking ‘£2,000 donations’, has filed an ‘affidavit of insolvency and indigency’ with the Orange County Court, a process reserved for people who do not have the funds to pay for their own legal defence.

A state-funded lawyer will now be appointed for her.

The 28-year-old’s claims of poverty contrast with the glossy image on the website she set up for her escort service in which she posed in Victoria’s Secret underwear.

As part of her now-defunct profile under the name ‘Sophia Belle’, she spoke of her love of ballet and Michelin-starred restaurants, as well as being willing to fly to the US or ‘anywhere in the world for the right client’.

Clients were offered a ‘Lux Overnight’ package lasting 15 hours, at a cost of £2,000.

According to the website, McGill, from Galashiels, Selkirkshire, uses her Scottish roots to sell her services, writing: ‘I am originally from Scotland and if you are into accents, with my slight, sweet sexy Scottish accent, I am guaranteed to set your pulse racing.

‘For the discerning gentleman seeking a polished and delicate flower with a sweet nature, I am the perfect companion to accompany you almost anywhere.’

She boasts of having clients in Singapore and Hong Kong, as well as in Europe and the US.

McGill had also compiled ‘wish-lists’ on shopping sites. Clients were invited to buy her pre-selected gifts including £525 Jimmy Choo shoes, £100 Tom Ford perfume, a £1,000 Olympus camera and a £95 bottle of Bollinger champagne.

An arrest report submitted to Orlando Police Department states that McGill and the 14year-old had started texting each other after he found her on Quora.com.

It is alleged that McGill, who claims to run a hypnotherapy business in Edinburgh, then met him on the first floor of the hotel and took him to her room, where they had sex.

The boy said that afterwards he paid McGill $480 (£339) in mixed denominations of $50 and $20 notes for her services and left the room. Police said that after speaking to the boy and his father, authorities went to the same hotel room and found McGill there with another man. They allegedly found condom wrappers, cash and unused condoms inside a safe in her room.

The police arrest report added: ‘McGill consented to a search of the safe in the hotel room where she was staying and signed a Consent to Search form. Upon opening the safe, multiple used condom wrappers, cash, unused condoms, vehicle keys and a paper bag were found.

‘All the items except the vehicle keys that were recovered were placed into Orlando Police Department property and evidence. McGill’s black iPhone 8 Plus was also placed into Property and Evidence.’

After the boy, who police said appeared ‘under age’, and McGill were interviewed by detectives, McGill was arrested and charged with lewd or lascivious battery – more commonly known as statutory rape.

Under Florida’s penal code, McGill faces a jail sentence of up to 15 years or a fine of up to $10,000 (£7,000) if convicted.

Local TV reported she was still wearing her makeup and pearl earrings when she was booked into Orange County Jail.

She was freed on $1,000 bail on Monday and ordered to surrender her UK passport.
