Evans and his wife are expecting twins after IVF treatment

- By Susie Coen TV and Radio Reporter

WHEN Chris evans revealed his wife was undergoing IVF treatment, he described it as ‘one last hurrah’ in an attempt to have another child.

It’s now a double hurrah, after the 52-year-old BBC presenter announced yesterday that Natasha Shishmanian, 38, is expecting twins.

evans is already father to three children – eli Alfred, five, and Noah Nicolas, eight, from his marriage to Miss Shishmanian – and Jade, 31, from a previous relationship with Alison Ward.

The couple, who have been married since 2007, have been open about their struggles to conceive. They had son eli via IVF after Miss Shishmanian suffered an ectopic pregnancy in 2010.

The presenter asked listeners on his Radio 2 breakfast show for advice about having twins yesterday, then revealed: ‘Mrs evans is double trouble, twin turbo.

‘We have known for a while, obviously. She is definitely the mother, no doubt about that.’

evans, who has been married three times, fears eli will have a ‘double shock coming’ when they arrive, saying: ‘eli is Mum’s best mate. That is going to change, my friend.’

Previously, evans had told guest Rob Brydon that his wife was ‘being harvested’ before explain- ing it was ‘an IVF thing’. he added: ‘Mrs evans has gone into hospital this morning at 7am – she is the field and there’s a harvest taking place this morning.

‘It’s a nice thing, we’re having one last hurrah, one last attempt at a fourth ankle biter.’

evans said he had been noticing twins ‘everywhere’ since he discovered he was going to be a father again.

he added: ‘I did a bit of work for TNT once upon a time when I worked in a warehouse, and when you work for TNT you see more TNT lorries; when you buy a Mini for the first time you see more Minis on the road; and when you begin to be involved in the world of twins suddenly twins are everywhere. They are not as rare as you think.’

evans revealed last year that his wife, a former professional golfer, was having more fertility treatment.

Twins are more common with fertility treatments due to doctors often implanting more than one embryo.

In 2012, the latest year for which figures are available, one in five IVF deliveries in the UK was a multiple birth.

evans, who last year was revealed to be the BBC’s highest-earning star with an annual salary of between £2.2million and £2.25million, became a grandfather in 2015 when his daughter Jade gave birth to a son, Teddy.
