Comedy gold from MP Pete

-

THE Wodehouse Prize for comic literature goes unawarded this year as none of the 62 books submitted raised sufficient chuckles.

What a pity MP Pete Wishart did not enter an anthology of his comedy gold tweets!

Just as PG Wodehouse (no, it’s nothing to do with painting your face blue, Pete) created risible Bertie Wooster, so the MP for Perth and North Perthshire has created a richly comic figure of fun: himself.

Pete called No voters ‘nawbags’ and worse, but with his Commons majority now at a rock-solid 21, he is unctuous (Google it, Pete) about not using vile terms such as ‘British nationalist’.

He brings to mind Wooster in full flow: ‘I cannot do with any more education, Jeeves! I was full up years ago.’
