SNP is taking us for fools

-

nIcOLA’S Sturgeon’s TV interview (Mail) was either blatant evasion or gross incompetence, or both.

She must know the set-up cost of an independent Scotland.

She commissioned the growth commission report, she’s been poring over and editing it for months, and must know that Professor Patrick Dunleavy of the London School of economics has now doubled his 2013 estimate from £200million to £450million.

This is also the cost of the new welfare agency. She claimed she didn’t know that either, despite writing a letter to David cameron in 2016 which says ‘we estimate... setup costs... to be between £400million to £660million’. It’s even on the Scottish government website!

The Uk Treasury’s 2014 estimate for set-up costs was £2.7billion and even this seems low now. We’re being taken for fools.

AllAn SuTHerlAnD, Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire. SInce nicola Sturgeon seems to have forgotten, let’s have a look again at her growth commission’s guess at how much it would cost to set up an independent Scotland: £450million.

Let’s remember that Alex Salmond said it would cost £200million and it would take 18 months to get a fully functioning state up and running.

It’s cost £200million already just to take control of some aspects of social security.

The SnP wants this growth commission to be taken seriously but with daft figures such as these, they are taking us for mugs just like they did in 2014.
