Rangers size up Flanagan

- By MARK WILSON

STEVEN GERRARD is weighing up a move for former Liverpool teammate Jon Flanagan. The 25-year-old right-back is a free agent after being released by the Anfield club this summer and is understood to feature on a list of potential Rangers

RANGERS could be sent back to the scene of their worst-ever continental embarrassment in today’s Europa League draw. The Ibrox side are seeded in the first qualifying round and could be paired with Progres Niederkorn. The Luxembourg minnows stunned Pedro Caixinha’s side last summer, reversing a 1-0 loss in Glasgow to prevail 2-1 on aggregate. Steven Gerrard’s men could also draw Siroki Brijeg of Bosnia Herzegovina, Shkupi of Macedonia, Stumbras of Lithuania or Slovakians Dunajska Streda. Hibernian are also seeded in the first round and could draw Levadia Tallinn of Estonia, IBV of Iceland, Finnish side KuPS Kuopio, FK Liepaja of Latvia, NSI Runavik of the Faroe Islands or the winners of the preliminary clash between Tre Fiori of San Marino and Bala Town of Wales. Aberdeen enter the competition in the second qualifying round, where the Dons will be seeded. The Pittodrie side, Rangers and Hibs will all find out their potential secondround opponents this afternoon when the draw takes place at 1pm — two hours after the first qualifying round is drawn at 11am. Hibs captain David Gray said: ‘A few of us got a taste of Europe a couple of years ago against Brondby. ‘We look forward to the draw.’
