Worker killed in crush accident

-

A CONSTRUCTION worker has been killed after he was dragged into machinery and crushed.

Andrew Darling, 47, pictured, of Newtongrange, Midlothian, is thought to have been installing heavy-duty machinery at NWH Group premises in nearby Mayfield when the accident happened on Tuesday afternoon.

One local, who did not wish to be named, said: ‘It is a tragedy.

‘Andy was a lovely big guy and he had such a nice family. Despite other workers trying their best to free him, they couldn’t save him.’

It is believed Mr Darling was employed by the NWH Group for ten years but joined SCG Supplies in September.
