Follow-up

I WAS amused to read the anecdote about the pigeon on the curtain rail (Peterborough). Many years ago, when TV sets were deep enough to put things on top of, my husband emerged from the living room into the garden where I was standing, and asked: ‘What have you been buying now?’ ‘Nothing,’ I replied. ‘What’s that on top of the TV, then?’ he asked. We both went inside to find a pigeon standing on one leg on top of the TV, stock still with one eye shut. I ran out and left my husband to deal with it. It must have got in through an open window.
