CATHRO BACK WITH MENTOR

-

FORMER Hearts boss Ian Cathro has been reunited with his mentor Nuno Espirito Santo after being named first-team coach at English Premier League newcomers Wolves. The 31-year-old worked alongside the Portuguese at Rio Ave and Valencia after the pair struck up a rapport at an SFA seminar in 2009. Cathro, who cut his teeth as a youth coach at Dundee United, joined Newcastle, where he served as deputy to Steve McClaren and Rafa Benitez before taking the reins at Tynecastle in December 2016 for an eight-month stint that ended with the sack. ‘I am very excited about joining Wolves and I am looking forward to working with a coach and with staff that I know, trust and believe in,’ said Cathro. ‘All of us share the same footballing philosophy and that is such an important factor for a successful coaching team.’
