Speeding fine for driver who left car at airport

-

A BUSINESSMAN who left his Range Rover with an airport ‘meet and greet’ firm claims he returned to find 50 extra miles on the clock – and a speeding ticket.

Steve Taylor, 55, paid £72 to leave his £100,000 4x4 with Manchester Airport Parking Services Ltd for 13 days. But on returning from his Canadian holiday, he was shocked to find 50 extra miles on the clock.

The construction firm director, of Milnrow, near Rochdale, said he also received a speeding ticket four days after his return. It was dated June 10 – when he says he was in Vancouver.

In an email, the firm said it was ‘very apologetic for the misuse of the vehicle and the driver involved has been fired’.

It offered to reimburse him for the cost of fuel and refund the parking – but said it required proof of the speeding ticket before it could address that.
