The smart set’s talking about...

Goodwood girl Rosie Tapner

-

ONE of the highlights of the Season, Glorious Goodwood attracts everyone from Princess Eugenie to Tom Cruise. This year, however, racegoers’ eyes will be on the mesmerising Rosie Tapner.

The 22-year-old model will be riding in the Magnolia Cup at the West Sussex racecourse against the Duke of Rutland’s daughter Lady Alice Manners, 23, and Lady Tatiana Mountbatten, 28, the Marquess of Milford Haven’s girl.

With the world’s best-known designers queueing up to book her for their campaigns, Rosie (right) has the fashion world at her feet.

The daughter of Rory Tapner, former boss of the Queen’s banker Coutts, Rosie was educated at £37,530-per-year Downe House boarding school, which Kate Middleton briefly attended.

Rosie refuses to become just another air-headed mannequin and has just completed the second year of her degree course in digital media at Oxford Brookes University.

‘I know a lot of models tend to drop out of school when the modelling jobs start coming in, but education is really important to me,’ she declared.

A childhood friend of supermodel Cara Delevingne, Rosie was scouted aged 15 at the Clothes Show exhibition in Birmingham and went on to sign a two-year contract with Balenciaga before appearing on the cover of Vogue and in campaigns for Burberry and Topshop.

Rosie stands a good chance in the charity race, where she will be cheered on by her boyfriend Elliot Manley, who graduated this week from Durham University.

Let’s hope her nerves don’t get in the way. ‘I keep having dreams about not winning and I wake up in sweats,’ she admits. ‘And I’m having major anxiety about the fitness test.’
