Kirk on Sunday? It must be Balmoral time with grandma
MOST people have the fondest of memories of holidays spent with their grandparents.
And it seems the Royal Family are no different as the Queen’s granddaughters travelled to Scotland for a break with their grandmother.
The monarch was joined by Princess Beatrice for the Sunday service at Crathie Kirk yesterday morning.
Beatrice, who turned 30 last week, joined her grandmother in the back of one of the royal cars for the short trip to church from Balmoral. Beatrice’s father, Prince Andrew, also joined them, while Lady Louise Windsor, 14, daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex, was seen arriving in a separate car.
The royal party encountered a spot of rain but that did not appear to dampen their spirits – although the Queen did wrap up under a blanket for the journey.
The monarch regularly attends services at Crathie during her annual holiday and, as is custom, the royal guard paraded outside the church ahead of Her Majesty’s arrival.
The Queen officially moved into Balmoral castle last Monday to mark the start of her annual summer break.
She had spent recent weeks at the estate’s Craigowan Lodge, also known as the ‘Enchanted Manor’.
Well-wishers gathered to welcome the Queen last week for her arrival at Balmoral, where she is expected to be in residence until early October.
The castle had been open to the public until the end of last month.
