JERK is a style of Caribbean cooking that involves marinating meat in a spicy ‘jerk’ seasoning mix.
It originated in Jamaica, where traditionally pork or chicken is coated in the rub before cooking.
The term also refers to the flavour of the distinctive spice mix itself, primarily made from allspice and Scotch bonnet peppers.
However neither of these two key flavours are listed on the ingredients list for Mr Oliver’s product, pictured.
