Driver dragged from his car by knife thug after puncture ruse

- Daily Mail Reporter

POLICE are hunting a man who stole a Jaguar after forcing the driver from his car at knifepoint and ordering him to lie down in a field.

The motorist had stopped after being flagged down by the man, who said he had a puncture in his silver Ford Focus and asked for a lift.

But he then pulled out a knife and forced the driver out of the white Jaguar in Cambuslang, Lanarkshire, on Saturday around 3pm.

The 52-year-old man was marched to a nearby field where the knife-wielding thug demanded that he lie down. The suspect then made off in the Jaguar as the victim saw a second man driving off in the Ford Focus.

After the pair had fled the scene, the man returned to the main road where he met cyclists who helped him contact police.

The Jaguar was discovered burnt out almost eight miles away in Bargeddie, Lanarkshire.

The first suspect is described as white and Scottish, with a pale complexion. He is in his late twenties to early thirties, around 5ft 8in tall and heavily built. He has short dark hair and was wearing a grey hoodie.

The second suspect is described as around 5ft 10in tall. He was wearing a black hoodie.

Detective Constable Paul Mooney of Cambuslang CID said: ‘This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim and it is absolutely vital that we trace the despicable individuals responsible.

‘I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Flemington Road around 3pm on Saturday, particularly any motorists with dashcams, to get in touch.

‘I would also ask anyone who was in the vicinity of Netherhouse Road and may have noticed the cars described above, or two men behaving suspiciously, to come forward.’

In April, two masked men fled after shoppers tackled them as they attacked a Jaguar driver and tried to steal his car.

The thugs had driven to a Tesco car park in Falkirk’s Glasgow Road to scout for potential targets when they spotted the 60-year-old in his Jaguar.

They leapt from their own car and attacked the victim. One hit him, while the other snatched his car keys.

But the pair fled when other shoppers in the car park waded in to stop them.
